The PHS School Library Media Center strives to promote independent, life-long seekers of knowledge. As students and teachers continue to develop 21st Century skills, learning to access information is lead by our school library media program for every child every day. This access includes collaboration, technology skills, and enjoyment of information that will nurture each student into a journey of educational success and good citizenship. Through effective use of the community, resources, and management, the school library media program is designed to teach students the skills to live, work and communicate in our changing society.
The center is the home to a variety of books and resources including biographies, fiction, non-fiction, reference, and college and career. It also houses Breakout Edu kits that teachers can check out.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. This mission is accomplished: 1. By providing intellectual and physical access to materials and information in all formats. 2. By providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas. 3. By working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
USE OF THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER
Students and community members may use the Library Media Center before, during, and after school. Arrangements may be made with Mrs. Baer to open the Library Media Center earlier or later than regular school hours if needed.
The Library Media Center is open to all students during break and lunch. Students must have a pass from a teacher to come to the library during class.
Students are welcome to use the Library Media Center for any educational purpose. They may conduct research, create multimedia presentations, study, or read books for pleasure.
Students may check out two books for a ten day period.
The media center has supplies and an area for students who are working on classwork or projects. Materials include paper, pencils, markers, pens, colored paper, craft supplies, and makerspace activities.
The media center has four glass rooms for students to work individually or collaboratively.
